The Winery

The story

The term Potazzine a Montalcino is used to indicate the booby-eaters, small lively and colorful birds of the Tuscan countryside; this is why Potazzine often becomes an affectionate name with which grandparents and parents address their little girls.

The link with the two potazzine is not only expressed by name, but it can be found in the entire evolution of the winery, which began in 1993 with the birth of the firstborn Viola and an extension of two hectares, in 1996, with the arrival of Sofia, until the 5 hectares registered in Brunello that the Estate boasts today.

Vineyards

The estate consists of five hectares of vineyards registered with Brunello,
three of which are located near the cellar, at 507 meters above sea level, with an average age of 14 years.

The other two plots are located in Sant'Angelo in Colle area, approximately 420 meters above sea level, planted in 1996.

The training system is Guyot.

Vinification

Harmony, finesse and cleanliness are the key words of Le Potazzine wines.

The objective pursued since the first vinification at Le Potazzine was to produce wine in the most natural way possible, seeking balance, elegance and a strong personality.

Aging

The company has always used 30 and 50 hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels from Garbellotto company to age its wines.

Brunello usually ages in barrels for around 40 months, the Brunello Riserva,

produced to date only in the 2004, 2006, 2011 and 2015 vintages, rests in wood for around 50 months.

Our Rosso di Montalcino remains there for 12 months, even if the mandatory does not provide for any type of aging.
